The Canadian Centre for Group Appointments serves you and the ones you love.

The Canadian Centre for Group Appointments (CCGA) is a collaboration among clinicians, community advocates and patients, policymakers, and researchers to further Group Appointments as one approach to chronic disease prevention and management, health services delivery, and better patient care.

Of every dollar we spend in Canada on direct medical care, 42 cents goes to chronic illnesses.

Chronic diseases place a substantial burden on families, communities, and our healthcare system.  Of every dollar we spend in Canada on direct medical care, 42 cents goes to chronic illnesses.

That’s $39 billion a year or about $1,200 per year for every person in your family, every person in the country.2

 

Group Appointments – Meeting the needs of Canadians

Group Appointments (GAs) are designed to encourage and support positive change amongst chronic disease patients.

Studies in the United States have reported large improvements in health-related quality of life and significantly decreased emergency department visit.

In the case of diabetes care, GAs "were associated with lower A1C than usual care at four to 48 months' follow up."3
